THE Bayles Bread Bakers

along the north side
Monday we got up early and headed for our land.  We love our few acres and today was no exception.  Scott, Erik and Clark have been helping us haul wood for our basement stove.  Erik works for the fun of it and to be with our family and his boys. (and Shanelle)  Scott has two fire places and so he needs lots of wood but he still gave us more than he got and a lot of the wood he gave us was already split so we decided to go and cut some for him.  Clark heats his whole home with wood but he goes often and gets way more than any of us.  You saw us cutting together a few blogs ago.
This is where we camp.
We had a beautiful day in that the sun was shining.  It was 34 degrees when we got there but it soon warmed up and was perfect for working.  There were spots of snow on the ground.

We had forgotten how beautiful everything is and how we love the smell.  We should have underground power in a few weeks which will be better when we take our trailer up.  We just enjoyed working together in the mountains.
The woodsman is on the right.

Driving out of our plot.
When we got home we worked in the yard, did laundry and caught up on things.  We had Nixon for a few hours but he just sleeps the whole time so it’s very easy. It was just a great day.
Hello, I forgot to mention that Jeff gave a talk in church the Sunday before conference.  We were so pleased and happy.  We're certain it was good.  Irene said it was very good.  It was the first Sunday they had gone to church since before we left.  We talked to Jeff and got so homesick just listening to that great mountain talk.  We didn't get to talk to Cori 'cause she was in a meeting but we sure do miss and love both of them.  I feel like you kids know them personally with all the talkin' we do about them.
Kristin and Tiffani (or all) left 2 volunteer potatoes in the garden.  Dad dug them up today.  We will have a feast with these babes.
total harvest
Scott came Tuesday afternoon to work on the smelly bedroom.  Dad had torn out the molding on two walls and it was a little gross.

We pulled back the carpet and it was moldy.  Erik told us to put clorox on it so we did.  Immediately the mold was gone and not a sign of black.  We have cloroxed it several times and can find no sign of mold.  Now to get rid of the clorox smell in the house.

The new wall board looks great. Scott will work on it again next week.
We have been blessed with a little family of quail.  They seem to get great comfort under the boat in the empty part of the garden.  They don't go near the produce, just roll around in the dirt.  We quite enjoy them.

Thursday we unloaded the load of wood we got for Scott.  It took us less than 15 minutes.  It feels good to do physical work.  We then went to Kamas to watch Hailey play soccer.  It rained most of the game and was so cold but fun to watch her.  She's a great player.  We had a yummy soup dinner after.
Friday Erik and Shanelle took Parker for his first time doing baptisms at the temple.  We got to have the 3 younger boys.  We decided it would be fun to make their own creations of bread.  What a blast.  We had so much fun.  We made the dough and then each boys had a big wad to do what he wanted.  They loaded them with sugar and cinnamon.
Camden's rocket, Asher's butterfly, Kolton's cinnamon rolls

They didn't think it would ever get done.  After it cooled they spread great amounts of icing over them.

When the temple goers got back they were filled with a great aroma.  I had made bread with the leftover dough and we cut huge slices and put butter, sugar and cinnamon on them.  Erik chose honey for his.  We ate plenty.
My favorite thing when Erik got home was when he told us every one talked or asked him about his son and daughter.  He says he's not taking them again.  I loved it.
The washer repair man came and I can't even tell when it is on the spin cycle.  Yahoo!
Dave and Cameron came at midnight.  Cameron fell into bed he was so tired.  They came for the Georgia Tech game.  The girls stayed home for a primary practice and yard sale.  Hope they made millions.
Saturday was the funeral for Val Wilcox.  What a wonderful funeral.  It was so happy and filled with the doctrine of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.  All 4 sons talked and it still only lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.  The Spirit was so strong.  What a great lady.  Her oldest son told the hanky story.  Everyone laughed so hard and so long.  It was really a celebration of her life.
We watched a little more than a quarter of the football game and then went to our NCCM reunion.  It was so good to see those wonderful missionaries wwe had worked with.  We love them so much.  It was great to be with President and Sister Thomas.  They helped us so much when we first got to Caswell.  We love them too.  The game was over when the reunion was.  BYU played very well and won.  Cameron was so excited that they had gone to the game.  Steve, Dave's brother, his wife and son went to the game too.  Erik's whole family was able to go and luckily it was a great night.
Sunday morning we went to Laws Casper's homecoming.  It was so good.  He taught the gospel so well using experiences from his mission and scriptures.  He taught the doctrine of Christ and bore a strong testimony.  He was our zone leader and ended his mission as an assistant to the president of the Knoxville mission.  Dave and Cameron came with us.  Cameron was so polite to everyone he met and was extremely well behaved during the meeting.
After church we went to the temple.  What a special place.  It was a wonderful time.

Notice the BYU football stadium in the background.  That's why Cameron's so happy.
We went on home and had lunch.  Dad and I went to church and Cameron and his dad went back to Vegas.  What a fun time we had with them.
We love the Sabbath day and each other.  The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is so true.  It is the only way to happiness.
