Summer Adventures - June 2023

June 1st after the temple and I-Hop we took a picture of Max and Ruth for their 57th wedding anniversary. We have so much fun together. We took a picture.

Monday Nixon had a championship basketball game. It was a thriller and Nixon is the tallest player. They won in the 4th quarter. It was so exciting.

Parker Durham turned 22 on June 3rd and has found a beautiful young lady, Jessa, for eternity. They are a perfect couple. He has always been an honest and obedient (man). He has served his friends, family and the Lord with a good heart. He is studying to be an optometrist. He is loved by everyone.

The next day was a great meeting. Cameron came for dinner and we watched either basketball or ice hockey. We love that he feels at home.

Thursday the 8th after the Payson Temple, Dad got his new hearing aids checked and they are doing just fine.

Saturday June 10th was Lily’s big day. She turned 18 on the 10th and for her birthday she wanted to go to the San Diego California Temple. We went as a family years ago when we took a trip to Disneyland for several days. Later we walked around the temple. Lily was very little, but never forgot it. Ever since that time, she has wanted to go to that temple. Her parents made it happen. Riley flew to San Diego to be there with her. Clark, Diann,e, Jonny and Lily were already there. It was a very special time. I had made her temple apron years ago and was pleased that she wore it. She was so excited. She is a very special child of God who follows her Savior faithfully. She loves her family and is so kind to everyone. She knows what she wants and strives to do her best.

What a beautiful, loving and faithful young woman who loves her Savior.

I can’t remember if it was this Sunday, the 11th or not, but we got a new bishopric. Bishop Hunter has been serving in this calling for over 10 years and is remarkable and kind. He loves everyone. The new men are going to be great: Bishop Curt Anderson, counselor Brother Anthony Dabling, and counselor Brother Dan Isom. They are going to be great.

Monday the 12th, Kristin, Baylie, and Jalen flew into Salt Lake for 3 ½ weeks. We are so excited. They arrived at 10 PM.

The next day Kristin joined us for a session in the temple. It was so wonderful to have her sitting next to me.

For the next few days, Baylie baked dozens of cookies for people who had ordered chocolate chip cookies for her tennis camp. They are really delicious. She is quite the baker and wants to open her own bakery one day.

The 15th Dad had bought 25 tickets for Kristin and kids, Clark and family, Erik, (who sat close because they work at the rodeo), and Scott’s family for our favorite Pleasant Grove Rodeo. It is amazing and so much fun. We laughed and yelled and Dad bought strawberries with sweet cream for everyone. It was such a fun evening and so wonderful to be with family. Tiff’s family were in Florida watching the twins play club volleyball. It had rained very hard all night and we were worried it would not be fun, but by the time the rodeo started, it was great weather and not wet. We love this rodeo and the fun memories.  All rodeos start with the National Anthem.

Strawberry Days
The 17th is also a favorite. It is the Pleasant Grove Parade. It goes right by Erik and Shanelle’s home. Before the parade they serve breakfast for their friends and families. Everyone brings something for breakfast and Erik is the cook. It is a yearly thing and so much fun. The kids just love it and so do we.

We always love a flag
The next day we only went for the Sacrament meeting because the girls were playing volleyball in Florida and we could watch it on our TV.  David flew in that night for the weekend.
It was Father's Day!
The 19th we bought 5 flats of strawberries which were left over from the rodeo Erik and Shanelle offered. Kristin and Dad worked all morning washing and peeling the fruit. We then delivered containers to our ministering families and friends. It was fun to see their faces and excitement. We love doing things like that. The strawberries were so good. Dad froze many pucks for the winter. They make good Frosties.

Wednesday the 21st we took Cameron to the Provo Airport so he could fly to Florida to watch the twins and go to Disney World. He was so excited to see the family.
The next day Dad, Kristin, Jalen, and Asher went to Dugway to look for geodes. It took 2 ½ hours to get there and then 30 minutes on a dirt road. They found many and brought them home. They are so beautiful. On the way out and back they found a herd of wild horses. On the way back a huge herd crossed right in front of the truck. Many people go there to see these horses but never see any. This was an amazing opportunity.
They also visited a Pony Express place. Ephraim Hanks was a Pony Express Rider.

On the 24th, Lily invited the family to go to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple for a session. There were members from our family and the Goates family. The Spirit was so strong and the love was tangible.

Great Sunday. We went to all our meetings. We have been doing Come Follow Me with Kristin and her kids every night. We love having more voices in this wonderful time to study about our Savior.

Monday Kristin, Baylie, and Jalen cleaned the entire home.YEAH!!!

The 27th the five of us did baptisms in the Provo Temple. The kids were so surprised at how big everything was because the Columbia Temple is so tiny. Afterwards Grandad took us to Waffle House to eat.

I believe it was that evening that Camden John opened his mission call.  We were all so excited for him. Many family and friends were there. Before opening his call, he bore a powerful testimony of how he feels about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We were so surprised when he read that he would be serving the Lord in Poland. I don't think anyone had guessed that. He will be powerful and teach with a firm message of our Savior Jesus Christ. We are so proud of him and he will be blessed for serving his Savior.

On the 28th Kristin and Baylie went to the Saratoga Springs Temple open house. They loved it and afterwards went to Molly’s Restaurant because Baylie wants to own one after college.

Somewhere in here, Grandad, taught Baylie and Jalen how to carve.

Our garden is progressing just fine.
We loved that Kristin loves our old Family Home Evening chart from way back in Blanding. Each member of our family chose an animal and we change the things they did with a flag.

Kristin was supposed to pick up Tiffani at the SLC Airport but they were greatly delayed. Kristin picked them up after much delay in Denver. Dave had driven up the night before and when he was finished with work, they all went to Bear Lake for a family reunion for five days. They invited Baylie to go with them. She was so excited and couldn’t wait. In her place we got Titan for the time. Lucky us.

The 29th Brother Bill Hoglund brought us 4 o’clocks also known as Mirabilis jalapa. We will plant them later.

I have no idea of when or where this was taken, but I like it.

What a great month with Kristin here for three and a half weeks. We had so much fun and it was so good to be with them. Kristin cooked every meal with Dad and showed him so many new recipes. It was wonderful. We loved that we did so many days with family.

This is my little faith plant. I looked at it one day and noticed that among the Jonny Jump-Ups was a red poppy all alone. It made tears come. It showed me that no matter what happens, our Savior will always be there to show us the way. It is still blooming in full faith.
We love our missionaries and love the messages they write with such firm feelings of  the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I just haven't labeled them so I don't know which ones I have sent. Sorry
