                                     AUGUST AND STILL BUSY

This month we have had many blessings every day.

The temple is our favorite place where we can feel such a strong Spirit filled with peace and knowing we are a forever family.  Thank you!

Wednesday, the 3rd we picked the last of the beans and tossed the bushes.  They were so good and plentiful.

We love Thursdays because we go with the Seamons.  They have been in Canada for the past 2 weeks and we have missed them.  They have a son and his family there.  They raise buffaloes along with his regular job.  It was so good to be with them again.

Friday, Aug. 5th Dad was up and ready at 3:45 to pick up Brother Hamilton and go to the Provo Temple for their 5:30 meeting before serving at 6:00.  He loves this service.

While he was there I started to water the garden at 6:00, so we could be ready to go to Vegas and help with the twins.  It takes 5 hours to water our garden and it is not easy.  I had walked over 1.5 miles by the time I had finished.

I also did 2 loads of laundry.  We had packed the night before.  Brad Monks came for a short visit and we love that he came.  He is such a good friend and we love his visits. We rested just a bit and then headed to Vegas.  We will be there until the 16th when Dave and Tiff get back.  They are on a company cruise for 2 weeks..  They cruised to Scotland for several days and then to Iceland.

Tiffany sent us tons of pictures at both places and we were amazed at the many beautiful things they saw and did.  What an amazing experience. When they got home and came to Provo, they shared with us some souvenirs.

The twins have been great.  They never argue or fight.  They are best friends.  I cannot believe the laundry they acquire.  I’m not sure they wear everything  they put there.

We had such a restful and fun time.  We were able to go to their seminary open house which was so filled with the Spirit.  They also spent 2 days at Bonanza High School volleyball tryouts. They not only made a team but they are on the varsity squad.

Monday was their first day of high school.  They go to a magnet school, West Tech.  It’s the same one Cameron attended.  They have no sports there so that’s why the girls can play at Bonanza.  The entire time we were there  was just perfect, minus Titan.  That dog thinks he is human and acts that way.  He even eats at the table.

We don’t know how they managed life before him. Dad went swimming every day and Titan joined him in his private pool. They had a fun time.
Saturday, Aug. 6th, Dad realized he had left our Sunday clothes hanging in his suit bag.  I Just chose one of Tiff’s dresses but Dad needed a shirt for church and the temple.  We spent 31/2 hours going to many stores but Vegas does not believe in white shirts.  We finally found one at  Rosses but when he got home he realized it didn’t have a pocket.  Tuff.  The Nebekers came to visit and they said he gets
all his white shirts at Kohls which is just a block away.  Oh well!  Life is so rough.

Tiffany has a bag for the girls to open every day.  They are always filled with candy.  They get so excited because the line of sacks is shorter every day.

Sunday was a great Testimony meeting because so many young men bore their testimonies about how their testimony had grown due to a priesthood trip hiking a very rough trail in the canyons.

We were able to go to their seminary open house which was so filled with the Spirit. They are a wonderful group of youth.  The Stake President gave a beautiful talk about how the buffalo protect each other by forming a circle around an injured buffalo and keep him safe.  He then gave each student a sticker with “Be the buffalo” on it.

The students filled the chapel and much of the cultural hall. It was powerful.

Monday the 8th,was the first day of Seminary and school. We never had to wake them up and they were ready for Granddad to take them to the Red Rock Stake Center for their class.  They had to be there by 5:50.  No problem.  Some mothers had said they would get them to school and volleyball each day.  They didn’t get home until 5:00 because there was conditioning after volleyball.  They never get tired or complain.  It’s an easy tending.

Wednesday was  Maxine Cameron’s 99th birthday.  She is an amazing woman and is a constant example of what a true follower of Christ is.  She is an example for all women of faith. We love her.

Saturday we dropped the girls off to meet up with some friends at an outdoor mall in Summerlin. We just don’t have to worry because they know what is expected of them.  They called when they were through and we had Blaze Pizza for dinner.

Sunday, the 14th, was unbelievable and so filled with the Spirit.  The entire meeting was youth.  They sang 2 numbers one with Clara and a boy playing violin.  The talks were all youth. I cried through the entire meeting; (Shocker!) even the prayers were by youth.

We went to the Nebeker’s for tri tip dinner and it was so good.

They live in a different home and it is so beautiful.  It’s just perfect for them. After dinner we played a great game called Frackle.  We laughed our heads off.  Dad and I are going to start playing.  We can’t wait to show the family but they probably already know about it.  It was just a fun evening.

Tuesday, August 16th Granddad took the girls  to Seminary and we packed to go home.  I washed our linens and Dad helped me make the bed.   We put Titan outside and were very rested, having so much fun with Lauren and Clara; we headed home.  It was a very restful 2 weeks, thanks to the twins.  Of course we stopped in Beaver for dinner and cheese curds.  Dad used his auto drive to eat his ice cream.

Clark had watered the garden,  Erik’s family had mowed the lawns twice and Sister Hunter had taken care of the mail  Everything was perfect.

Wednesday we crashed, we were so tired from the drive.  Before we left home I had spent time looking for my glasses.  No such luck.  I figured they were gone forever.  Again the power of prayer is not only for big, important things.  I had stripped our bed and washed our sheets so I could put on a different set.  George always helps me do this.  When I looked to tuck in the end, there on the floor between the bed and the bench were  my glasses. Another blessing.

While George was in the temple serving, I weeded the garden and pruned the roses. Saturday was a very hard day.

Sunday, Jackson Gregory gave his farewell talk.  It was so good and he was so scared.  He is a great young man and will be a good missionary.  That afternoon Cameron came for dinner and stayed for the day.  They watched some football.

He asked for a priesthood blessing which Granddad did.  How blessed we are for priesthood blessings.

Monday, the 22nd. Nixon Scott Bayles turned 11.  He is such a wonderful young boy and loves his family and dogs.  He now has chickens which he helped his dad make the coop.  We are so grateful for him.

Tuesday I did a blood test before we went to the temple.  I am on a new blood thinner but the test showed that it was too difficult for me to handle.  Dianne helped with that decision.  The prescription I am on is $600. A month.  We were hoping the new one would be good.  No luck. After the test we did a session and  some sealings.

We had a great harvest of nectarines this year.

Thursday, August 26th, we went to the hospital to visit George’s sister Julie Ann Johnson.  She is having a pacemaker put in.  Bill was there with her and she was very positive.   We had learned that Cathy Cosby was just down the hall.  Both are from Utah and Colorado.  Cathay is in bad shape and the doctors are deciding whether to put in a clamp or replace her heart.  Very serious and we are praying for both.  We had good visits but no pictures.

At ll:30 the Seamon’s came and we headed to Draper  and a very wonderful Palmyra Mission reunion.  There were so many friends there and we ate good food and had a wonderful reunion.  Getting with such good friends is such fun and the memories exploded.  It was at the Gregory’s home and 18 couples were there.  It held us all and we just visited for the afternoon. We laughed and shared stories of our wonderful time in Palmyra.  We missed Karen Lindsey’s husband.  We went to his funeral a few months ago. I haven't received the pictures someone took so I am putting in these 2 little ones.

It was so fun

Saturday Dianne came to pick some food from our garden.  She filled her car with many good things.  Erik and Shanelle came later to mow our lawns.  We so appreciate that family for doing this.  The boys were either at work or at a mutual activity.  After Dianne got home we realized that we had left a box and called her.  She said the zucchini bread would be out of the oven. It was so yummy and warm.

We got home and Jess Cornwell was there for a visit.  He is a good friend from our Blanding days when George was his football and other sports coach.  He has always been close to us. Again, no pictures.

The 28th was Erik’s birthday.  He is now 47, I think.  No matter where we go and somebody asks our name, they ask, “Do you know Erik Bayles?”  He is loved by so many people.  He is in his stake high council and is such a good man.  He and Shanelle have 4 amazing sons. They included Jalen in this temple trip.

Sunday day we were busy getting ready for Florida, Disneyworld, and the Cougar football game.

The next day, Scott took us to the airport at 6  in the morning and Kristin picked us up at the airport in Florida.

Wednesday we started our fun time at Disneyworld.  We stayed at a fun place in the park so we never had to park a car.  Kristin had the entire trip planned.  She had matching shirts for us every day.  It was such a fun time. We will continue this in our September blog.

We continue to be grateful for this wonderful family the Lord has blessed us with. It is so comforting to know what will take place when we leave this world and strive to follow His commandments.  We love that so far our grandchildren have followed the plan and have lived good lives.  We love our missionaries who are serving now and in the past.  We will try to include a picture of the current ones in each blog.  The restored gospel is true and the only way to peace and happiness.
