MERRY CHRISTMAS 2018

Fast Sunday was the 2nd of December and a very good meeting.  The bishop got up and told about an experience we had together in a session at the temple.  He said how much he appreciated that when George and I were walking down the isle we were holding hands.  He mentioned that it thrilled him that old people still did that.  The congregation just laughed because when I got up because of the Spirit, I mentioned that last week when I talked I was the youth speaker and today I was old.    It is a great ward.  After the meeting we went to see more statues but only found this one.  It is amazing.  The Tuscarora Indians saved people in Lewiston NY (Where we attend church, to the north of Niagara Falls) from the British soldiers when they attacked the village.

Dad is going to try and fine these Jones men.
Check out the names of these wonderful men.
The other flag is the Tuscarora flag,  both in honor of President Bush.

Tiffani sent us a Christmas package.  Some of the things and others are under the tree.

The next day we went to the George Eastman Kodak museum and mansion.  I wasn’t expecting it to be so interesting but it was a great, private tour.  George gave much money to many universities and founded the Eastman School of Music.  these pictures are the inside of the mansion.  It is very much like it was in his day.

His mother's chair which she used the last 3 years of her life.  George hired someone to be with her every moment.  He never married.
After the tour we went to Red Robin for lunch.

Brother Barlow ordered onion rings with his lunch.

Tuesday we were able to go to the temple early to be in an early session prayer circle which only happens 2 times a month.

The best thing that happened Wednesday was that Lauryn's blurry eyes can be corrected with glasses and no brain damage noticed after 2 concussions.
We went to East View Mall in Victor, that's where we get the good Charlie's Philly cheese sandwiches.  We just walked for exercise and went 2 miles.  It is HUGE.  We didn't even get to it all but every turn is a new row of shops.  It's enough to scare people. We only took pictures

Sunday in Niagara Ward's Primary Program.  Need I say more.  We love those programs.  That evening we went to a Christmas Program that was given by the site missionaries.  It was all music and very god.  Throughout the center they had many creches from all over the world on display.  They were so beautiful and in such variety.  It was at the Hill Cumorah Visitor's Center.

Of course we always add barns.  I don't know why I love the old ones the most.  Maybe 'cause I can identify with them

.

Monday was a great day in that we got to stay home all day until evening when we went to  musical performance by a group of ladies led by one of the village workers, Sister Nabrozsky.  It was amazing.
Thursday was a very long and hard day and emotions were raw.  thank goodness for a good night's rest.  Friday I did a lot of repenting.  How do people deal with life's struggles without the gift and blessing of the Holy Ghost?  We love that gift from our Savior.

Tuesday the 11th we got a package from Brad Wilcox.  It was one of his books, "Because of the MESSIAH in a manger".  It is a simple but excellent book like all of his books.  What a thoughtful man.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we were in the temple doing what we love most.  Somewhere in here we decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner.  We have never gone out to eat this much in our entire lives

Sunday was again Niagara and wonderful.

Monday we got our Pneumonia booster shots, cashed a refund check at Tops (since there is no Wells Fargo here) went home and George gave Max a blessing in that he didn't feel well.  He felt so good a few hours later that we went to the Smith Farm houses for a Christmas memory of how it was back then.  It was very foggy when we walked back to our car but the temple was beautiful.

The sister missionaries taught us a line dance.  It was fun.
Tuesday, Tina, the Seamons's daughter sent us a package.  It was so sweet of her.  She said it was because she felt that her parents had good friends here, and indeed they do.  We also got packages from Kristin, Scott, Tiffani and Clark's families.  Erik and family were at Disneyland and will contact us on their return.

They sent other things but theses were on my camera.

Friday the 21st we all went to Cheesecake Factory with the other missionaries and the Presidency, for the Barlow's 50th wedding anniversary.  they were so surprised.   as  As you have figured, we love to eat.  It was so much fun.  We absolutely love these missionaries we serve with.

We now go to Saturday the 22nd.  We decided to go to Amherst, which is next to Buffalo for a restful night in a king size bed with a good mattress and peace.  It was wonderful.  We didn't have to get up so early the next morning because Lewiston, is only 30 minutes away and on the other side of Niagara Falls, where we go to church. The Christmas program was so wonderful and filled with the Spirit.  Shocker, I cried all through it.  The Bishopric spoke and the songs were sung in between.  The talks were so short and so heart reaching and the music was sung with vigor.  The tiny ward choir sang one song and it was so good.  It wad just an hour of Spirit.
After the meeting a Colombian family had invited us to dinner.  They have been in the states but just moved here from The Queens in NYC.  They have no money and are so humble and good.  It is the family that we found their son on the road a few Sunday's ago and took him home.  Beatrice is the name of the mother and the grandmother, the son Richard and the brother of Beatrice.  The mother had gone to  Lockport to get the brother and so we had a few hours to wait for them.  They had a Hispanic dinner all ready.  They are such good people and are so giving. Kristin called while we were there and the talking was so loud and so filled with laughter and joy.  We loved listening to it.
Daughter, Beatriz Bueno, son and mother Beatriz Izquierdo  Richard wouldn't pose
They each told of their conversion stories which were filled with such gratitude  and faith.  We had such a good time and left so filled with food and the Spirit.  We can't remember the last name.  We left them with a box of chocolates and drove home so grateful for our family and friends and the true gospel of our Savior.  We are so blessed to have the Savior in our lives.
When we got home I was so tired that I slept for 13 hours.
Christmas Eve all of the temple missionaries went to the Barlow's and then caroling.  It was very cold and snowing and we loved every minute.  Afterwards, we went back to the Barlo's and had cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa.  We were so shocked to see their apartment because is was so beautiful and huge.
Christmas Day we went next door from the Barlows' and had dinner at the Titsworths.  Another huge and beautiful apartment with two bedrooms and even a garbage disposal and a dish washer.  Brother Titsworth was a perfect host.

On the 27th Mahlon Grass, Scott's 5th grade teacher and a man I taught with at Canyon Crest, came for his winter break to do many sessions in the temple.  We were with him every day and so enjoyed it.

On one of he days he took us to a Mexican restaurant for a delicious lunch.  It was just fun to visit with him.  He got a lot of genealogy done.

On the 28th Rowan Nowell turned 2.  She is such a delight.  We love he pictures we see of her..  She will not even know us when we get home.  What a busy bee.  She is the light of everyone in that family.  We don't know how to get pictures off of face book so we don't have any present ones.  We certainly do love her and can't wait to experience her personality.

The very next day was Shanelle's birthday.  We have no idea of her age but she looks very young and has those 4 wonderful boys who will soon all be taller than her.  She is a very loving mother and wife and lives to help her family live as our Father wants us to.  We are so blessed to have her in our family.  She is the perfect wife for our son and the perfect mothers for those boys.
With the end of the year and football we were able to put 2 puzzles together.

We celebrated the New Year again with the missionaries.  We used the Paris time so we ended the year at 7:00.  We played crazy games and ate fun food until then.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
We love serving in the Lord's temple and know that things are moving forward and we must be ready for the things that will be expected of us and our family.  It is all so beautiful.  There is no doubt that our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson is who we need to follow and try to keep up with.  He is amazing and we love him.  If we but follow the doctrine of Christ we will be lead in the light and have joy.  We are here at this time because we said we would help fight the fight for the gathering of Israel and living eternally with our families in peace and love.
