GOD BLESS AMERICA

July 1st Tiff and Dave got ready for the Jennings reunion at Bear Lake.  They used our boat.  That evening Scott and family came over for the fireworks.  It was so late as usual but very good.  We got eaten by many mosquitoes.
On the 3rd we went to the booths set up around the court house.  I love doing that.  We had a fun time and ate dinner there.  The kids played in huge air balls on water.

 Jalen trying a hammock
They loved seeing some of the stars from Studio C

We had yummy snow cones.  That evening we bought a 12 foot pool for the kids to play in in the back yard.
The next morning the kids helped put up the pool.
They were so excited.  We put a few inches of water in it only to find a minute lead.  We called Smith’s but the man was very rude.  We will fix it when we empty it.  The kids had so much fun that Granddad even jumped in.
The garden is doing well; cabbage as big as a basketball.
Nixon and Ava came to play for a while and really enjoyed the pool.

Relaxing
The 6th, we shopped for 5 hours for Baylie’s school clothes.

We bought Jalen a shirt
At 8 we went to Nixon’s last T-ball game.  He is so fun to watch.

Kristin and her dad
I can't remember what order we did things but I do remember we went to the Provo Pioneer Village.
old school house, no windows 'cause it was a shed first

There were many buildings and the kids were invited to try several thing as they did in the earlier days.  It was a great place and they even dressed then in the time era.
another thing we did was go to the BYU Creamery.  It has the best ice cream.
We also went to Waffle Love

July 8th the Jennings returned from their reunion and to bring back the boat and get the bird.  They had a blast.
Sunday was a very peaceful day.  The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is so true and brings such peace to those who will accept it.  It brings such meaning to life.  We are so blessed to have the priesthood in our home and a father who honors it. Somewhere in this crazy month we went to honor Constance Lundburg Erickson, (George's cousin, Aunt Ned's girl) to celebrate her 70th birthday.  She has had a serious stroke and not doing well.
  Constance and her sister, Meredith

Dad and Phillip, Constance's son, Kristin used to babysit.
Shanelle invited us over for dinner but we thought it would be easier if they just came to our home.  We had a great visit.

Sometime in there we went to Scott and Beths and played some more.

July 10th Kristin, her kids and I left for Vegas to tend the kids while Tiff went to girl’s camp.  We didn’t like the idea of those kids being alone all day for 5 days.
Everyone was so happy.

The young’uns spent the entire day in the pool, except when Kristin took them to the movies.  I took Clara to gymnastics from 6:30-8:30.
The next morning I took Lauryn and Clara to diving, more swimming and again gymnastics.
We had basically the same schedule for the next few days and just had such a great time.  The kids couldn’t have been better.
We went to a new place called POPS for a treat.
On Friday we left for the San Rafael Tri.  Dave said he would come home from work early.  We left Baylie so she could go to a volley ball camp with the girls.  Granddad met us at the tri with the trailer.  It was such a fun time to be with Clark’s, and Scott’s families.  It is so family oriented.  The kids played on long boards and kicks all day.

I drove part of the way home but didn't want to drive down the canyon so Dad had me pull over where there was an easement.  It suddenly dropped into a huge hole and I broke part of the front bumper of our trailer.  Dad thought it was going to turn over.

When we got back from the race I was surprised when the garage door opened and saw that Dad had painted my outside back doors red.  I love them.  It was for our 51st wedding anniversary on the 20th and some day we will celebrate it.

Sunday School was so good because Brother Anderson told a story about how he went to a BYU ball game and when he was helped to find his seat noticed the girl spoke Spanish.  He asked where she was from and she was from his mission in Bolivia.  When he told her she said that her dad would love to find an Elder Anderson, who had baptized her father.  It was him.  As they talked he found out that all of her family was baptized and doing so well.  The boys had gone on missions and her father had served in so many positions.  He was now the patriarch for his stake.  He was right in our class and bore such a powerful testimony in his broken English.  The room was so filled with the spirit.  What a miracle it was and not by accident that they had found each other.  The Lord blesses us in so many ways.

Jonny had us bring our boat to the Jordanelle Reservoir for his birthday party.  There were 22 of us.  We had to go in two groups to get across the lake to have Granddad pull the kids on our water toy,  They had such a great time.

By the time it was over it was raining and lightening so we hurried to safety and headed home.  Jalen helped Granddad clean the boat.

Erik and Shanelle invited us for dinner but because of the pool we had them come to our house.  It was so fun to be with that family,  We just visited, played games and had a fun time.

 and played games while visiting

Sometime in there we went to Scott and Beths and played some more.

The next few days we prepared for the Reed E. Bayles family reunion in Colorado, where Granddad grew up.  It will always be home to all of us because that’s where our roots began, even though some never knew of the place until after marriage.  It is just a very special place where the restored gospel of our Savior was taught daily by the examples set for them and for the married partners.  It is across the highway from Mesa Verde and has so much history and stories.  I think I go to hear the stories of long ago.  We mainly just sit around talking and eating.  We love this special family and the Granddad and Granny who started it all in our time.
Tiff came from Vegas and met us in Moab.  We played at the Hole in the Rock rest stop.

and traveled with us to the reunion.  Only our daughters usually come and we love that they do.  It makes it so much better for us.  'they have such fond memories of these great people.

Dennis is a member of our family who came home from school one day with Dad's brother, Lyman and never went home.  He is a strong member of our family now and our kids were grown before they realized he wasn't a real uncle.  We love him so much and pray for him because of his cancer permitting him to live only 2 months before last year's reunion.  we treasure every day he's still here.

 cousins

 Me with Kay, Mark's wife.
 The uncles etc.
 Wonderful relatives.
good resting

They loved the trailer

Friday night all the cousins gather and ride in the back of trucks heading for the crawdads.  This is a favorite tradition.  They get back around 11:00 all wet, tired and laughing.

The next day the play fun games.
This one is an old pioneer game the grandparents played.
"Sheepie, Sheepie, come home.
We daresent,
Why?
Big black bear behind the bush.
 Sheepie, sheepies come home anyway."
They all run to the other side trying not to be captured by the bear.  We love that these old customs remain even today.
They love the Sumo wrestling.
This year they added water balloon volley ball.
That afternoon we went to see the house where Dad lived and have some ice cream at a moose ice cream place.
It was such good ice cream.  I had a whole pecan pie mixed into a vanilla flavor.  I just had one baby scoop,  It was the best.

Dad loved seeing the old places where he grew up until 6th grade.

That evening after dinner and when it's getting dark, cousin Shawn and cousins, cook the crawdads and everyone has another late night feast.  It's tradition.
The nest morning after breakfast everyone meets in the shade of the old trees and have a family testimony meeting.  Even Jalen bore a beautiful testimony.  The youth were a great example.  We love this special time together when the Spirit is so strong.  Jalen and Baylie were so happy to ride in the back of our truck for a few miles until we hit pavement.

out the back window
The dates here are not all right but on the 23rd Jonny turned 10.  He is such a fun loving boy and has so many friends because of his kindness.  He loves his nephew Will and plays with him whenever possible.  He loves his family and loves being with them.  He is a choice son of our Heavenly Father and an answer to prayer for Riley.  We love him so much.

We took the trailer to our storage place and found these deer where some people live.  They were so friendly.

On the 26th Kristin headed home.  They missed the first flight out of SLC but caught the plane in Chicago and made it home on time.  It was so good to be with Jalen and Baylie and spend more than a few days.  They love their cousins and rarely get to see them so it is a pleasure to reunite them.
After Dad served in the temple and Scott got home we went to Kamas to get 3 loads of wood.  It will keep both families warm this winter.  It was already cut and split so it was an easy work-out.  After we went to Dairy Keen for dinner and milk shakes.
While we were tending Scott and Bethany's children, because pf their 14th (I think) wedding anniversary) the Erik Bayles boys and family (all but Parker) came to mow our lawns.  Bethany has been so good for our family and we love the 3 children they have added to our clan.
It was so good to be with them and just sit around and visit.  They are such a loving family.  When the lawns were finished we had ice cream.
The 31st is Erik and Shanelle's 20th wedding anniversary.  We are so blessed that he fond her.  They have added so mucg to our family, especially Erik.
We spent the next 2 days getting the yard ready for us to go to Alaska fishing
We had  planned for very cold weather as we watched the report but on Sunday it reported that our entire week would be in the 70's.  We are even more excited.  Our flight leaves in 12 hours.  We will report when we get home.
We love that we love to be together and love this beautiful state and the wonderful people we meet.  I lived here as a toddler until I was 4 but remember very little.  It has a beauty that has no description.  Our Savior created such a beautiful world for us under the direction of our Father.  How greatly we are blessed.
