We love working in our garden
Where did July go? Here
it is the middle of August and we are just starting our August blog. Time sure does fly when you’re having
fun. When Baylie was here she wrote a note for her cousins.
Ava reading the note
Kristin sent us a picture of Baylie’s
bed because they had shipped the rest of their stuff to SC which had been here
in storage for 9 years. She opened a
tubby that had a quilt in it and put the one Grandma Bayles had made as a spread
for Baylie. That gave us an idea. We put the quilt my Grandma Jones had made on
our bed. The only problem is that it was
made over 50 years ago and so it is standard size. We just put it on sideways. Doesn’t fit but we love it. We’ll put a different one on in Sept.
August 3rd was by brother, Milt’s birthday. He is doing well and loves being
married. It has been so much fun going
to see him so often but now he has a special someone to care for him. We love Jo.
She is a wonderful addition for him.
After George’s service in the temple we headed for Strawberry
Bay Resort. It was all Dad’s idea and he
made all the reservations. It was definitely
a fisherman’s resort but we loved it. It
was for our 50th anniversary.
We spent 3 days fishing and just having fun together. We caught fish but just released them until
Dad caught a 22” 4 and a half pound rainbow.
He was beautiful. One day Dad is
going to smoke all the trout in our freezer.
I am looking forward for that day with joy. We ate at the little cafe and the food
was wonderful. Our bed looked right out
on the boats and the weather was perfect.

Monday, Beth and kids picked me up to go to ST. George. We drove to our motel just as Tiffani and
the girls pulled in. How fun. The kids immediately changed and jumped into
the pool. I took a nap. After the swim we went to dinner
Ava caught some of Tinkerbell's fairy dust
and the Tuachan. We didn’t realize the time
so we got there at 8:25 and the show started at 8:30. Thanks to Tiffy’s
expert driving we just parked right close and got seated in plenty of
time. Our seats were perfect. We saw Peter Pan and loved it.
We didn’t get back until just before midnight. We fell into bed.
The next morning we spent the day shopping. My favorite thing. NOT! It is so much fun with 3 little girls and 1 boy.
It pays to park with Bethany
You should have seen the rest of the dressing room.
Hey dad, which pair should I buy?
young Tarzan and older Tarzan
We almost missed breakfast the next morning so Tiff, Ava, Clara and I took breakfast upstairs to the others. What a blast. After packing up we went to Swigs and headed home. What a great tradition.
August 11th was a great day in that we went to the SLC
Temple for David Cochran and Breanna’s wedding.
I always love that temple and the Spirit was so strong during the
ceremony. The officiator, Elder Cook,
was so good and gave such wise, short and good advice. It was so good to be with so much of Dad’s
family. Immediately after the ceremony
we headed home to get ready to play with Clark's family at Deer Creek. We hooked up our boat and headed north. When we got there the wind and waves were
horrible so we decided not to stay. As
soon as we were ready to leave it calmed down and we launched the boat. We laughed for the next few hours.
As soon as we left we hurried to Provo to get ready to go to
Riverton for the reception. What a
day. Again, it was so fun to be with
family. The place was packed with people
and the feeling was so happy. We haven’t
seen David so happy in a long, long time.
They make a great couple. We got
home and fell in bed.
Friday was a great day because we met the Ouzts family in Sandy
at the Habit Burger Grill for dinner. The
grandparents were there too. They are a
great family from our mission. They were
one of the families that put 20 pounds on us.
We were welcome in so many homes in Caswell Ward. That place is filled with the Spirit of our
Savior and they are working so hard to receive new members so they can build
onto their church house and have many more receive the restored gospel of Jesus
Christ. The warmth there is
amazing. They love everyone.

Danny's mom and dad, great people
We consider these people part of our family and love them so
much. Everyone should have the
opportunity to go visit the Caswell Ward. You will be welcomed by many immediately.
After dinner we went to an Italian Ice place and had something
we had never had before, but plan to go again it was so good. We then went to Scheels Sporting goods store
and had more fun.

The Ouzts were supposed to come back after church for dinner
and more visiting but I forgot to take my phone off silent when we got out of
church so we got everything ready and wondered where they were. They couldn’t figure out why we hadn’t called
so they spent 2 hours biding time. They didn’t have our address.
We had a marvelous time once they got here and had yummy Navajo tacos. They loved them. The girls loved the homemade strawberry jam best. Erik and Shanelle came over for a visit and we talked until 10:00. The kids were near the same ages so they loved hearing the stories we told. We certainly wish NC was a lot closer. Naturally I didn’t take any pictures of the gathering. It was so difficult saying good-by. We hope when we reach our goal that not only families are forever but so are friends.
Friday we worked hard in the garden picking all kinds of vegetables and nectarines. We were going to watch Riley play football in Kamas and wanted to take some to Clark's family. When we got there we found Hailey was home. What a great surprise. She looked great and we were so excited for her to be home again. She and Dianne were going to Vegas the next day so we took some garden produce to the Jennings too.
Riley had a great game and carried the ball 8 times for just under 8 yards a carry.
After the game we had dinner at Clarks'.
Proud, shorter dad.
Riley and Will did push ups together.
Saturday was our group's turn to clean the church. This is a wonderful privilege for us. We only do it every 3 months. After, we hurried to Lehi for Kolton’s
game. He is the 8th grade
quarterback. He played a great game and
on the 4th down, ran for the first but when knocked out of bounds,
broke his wrist. Ugh! His run gave them the first down and goal resulting in a
TD and an extra point to win the game.
We let the tomatoes get red and I bottled some pints for the winter.
August 22nd was Nixon’s birthday. He is finally 5. He has been saying he is 5 for some time now. He is a trip. We love how he loves his family and loves to go on dates with them one on one. It is lucky he has a huge back yard because he makes use of every inch. He is an outdoors guy. He loves to play cars with his granddad.
We were cleaning the house and doing yard things when Clark
and his family stopped by. We were so
excited to see them but felt badly that they were going to Seven Peaks only to
find out it was closed for a private party.
The kids played in the back yard all day. It was so fun. They mainly played in our ancient little
pool, even Clark got in.
The best part was that they brought Will. He loved everything, especially the pool. He just giggled and squealed. Another good thing was that instead of coming at night the boys came at 3:30 to mow our lawns and the Kamas kids were still here.

Clark did Kolton's due to the broken wrist.
They had so much fun
together. Riley, Parker and Erik couldn’t
come. (Must be some football thing.)
We left them playing while Nixon invited us to go to jdawgs
for dinner.
We love that place.
This summer a funny plant started growing in one of our flower beds. I thought it was a weed but I also thought it was pretty so we decided to just hold off pulling it. It got very tall but we still held off. Sunday morning it had a huge bud like a sunflower. It opened more each day. We love it.
We are so proud of
this important step Hailey has chosen to guide the rest of her life. She is a very special daughter of our Father
in Heaven and we do love her so much.
Her parents strive daily to teach their children and live as our Savior
has taught.
We love that place.

The big Five
It was fun to be with all our boys’ families
that day. There’s nothing better than
family. This summer a funny plant started growing in one of our flower beds. I thought it was a weed but I also thought it was pretty so we decided to just hold off pulling it. Our backyard hibiscus.
The 25th we went to Parker’s game at 3:30.
He was the center and played well. At 6:00 we went to Erik’s home for dinner and
then off to the Timpanogos Temple to join Hailey as she received her
endowments. What a special time. Both sets of grandparents were there and
Hailey’s parents. Erik and Shanelle came
as did some of the Goates family. It was
just a grand time. The Spirit was felt
in great strength.
The next evening found us in Morgan at Riley’s football
game. He had some good runs and they won
at the last seconds by 2 points. We had
picked and loaded boxes of tomatoes and nectarines with other stuff for Clark’s
family. We took Hailey and Jonny home on our way back and got home at midnight.
The next day Dad painted the trim on both sheds, marinated and
filleted some trout
and then we went to
Camden’s fun soccer game at 3:30. We had
to leave early to go to a High Priest dinner at our stake. It was so yummy. George Durant and his wife Susan Easton Black
Durant were the speakers. He was a riot
and she talked about when Joseph Smith ran for President. It was a fun evening. When we got home Dad finished with the trout.
The 28th was Erik's birthday. 41 WOW!
triathlete
with the love of his life
He is such a good man who honors his priesthood in every way. He is so proud of his family and so are
we. He loves to do everything possible
with them. He’s a bit crazy at times and
full of fun and his boys just love it.
These are his treasures.
He is such an important part of our family. (even if Kristin did make he
and Tiffani wet their mittens, put them in the freezer and duke it out when we
were gone) We will also say that when he
was a small baby he would sleep for 9 hours at night and still take naps in the
day. A mother counts her blessings when
that happens.
Monday we took Nixon on a date for his birthday. He chose jdawgs again and ate in the phone booth again. What a fun kid. We got home just as Shanell and boys had
finished mowing and heading for home. They keep our lawns so pretty all spring
until in the fall. Don’t know what we’d
do without them. Just as they left, Dianne,
Hailey and Will came. They have tended
Will here so that he doesn’t have to be away from mama too long while she is in
class at UVU. We love it. They had been shopping for Hailey’s
missionary clothes. Hailey is going to change the world. She picked raspberries and nectarines.
We ended the month with a dentist appointment, car serviced
and then off to see Captain America. It
has been a wonderful month with lots of blessings and tender mercies. We love the restored gospel of Jesus Christ
and know that He lives and loves us all.
We are so blessed with the incredible family we can have for eternity if
we but follow the commandments. We are
striving to do that. We love our
children and grands so very much. They
keep us active and tired. YaHoo!
