Today was basket #5. I am so excited because one of the gals asked if I was always happy. I was very surprised because I am always last in the talent and didn't realize I was happy. I said "Yes" She asked why. What an opening to teach about our Savior, Jesus Christ. I certainly hope I am living so people will want to know more. I have a little plan for the next class. I will bear my testimony in a loving way to everyone there. I guess if I'm not supposed to do that in class I will get forgiveness. I love this basket class and the opportunity to answer so many questions. They now ask without hesitation
Tuesday we were invited to give a mini lesson in Zone Meeting on positive attitude. We had so much fun. Dad was the introducer and I was an Elder's conscience. I had a stuffed monkey for the bad advice in his left ear and the Preach My Gospel for the good advice in the right ear. Of course Elder Oaks made the right decision. What fun!
We love our mission president. He is a great leader. We had personal interviews. He was not there for the Zone Meeting but came as soon as it was over. Elder Bayles and I have gone together in the past but President Craven has us go separately. It made me a bit nervous but when I entered the room the Spirit was so strong. When President Craven asked if I would offer a prayer, shocker, I just started crying. I am so blessed to be able to serve the Lord as a missionary. He asked what my feelings were and I answered, still in tears, how blessed I am to be given the children we have. I don't know of any way I could be more blessed than with these children and watching them rear and teach their children in such a beautiful way. I am so proud of each one of them and love their mates so very much. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ at work. President Craven told Elder Bayles that we are well known throughout the mission, and that our influence has been felt among the missionaries. That was gratifying to us.
We stopped at Fudruckers to have lunch. Elder Bayles had eyes bigger than his stomach but emptied it when we got home. He just isn't 40 anymore.
In our first meeting with President Craven, he invited us to get a new Book of Mormon and read it with two highlighters. One was to mark the Doctrine of Christ and the other was to mark the characteristics of Christ.
We decided we wanted to do this together. We are to read one chapter a day but we are enjoying it so much we are two weeks ahead of where we should be. The Book of Mormon is such a great book and we are learning every time we read. The Stake invited us to read and finish it by Mother's Day which we did and were in Alma the second time around and now we are reading in Alma and with each other in 2 Nephi. We just can't seem to get enough of that great book. It is so true.
We continue to work at the burn home. The ward has been unbelievable. They have a team out there every day or evening. It should be finished in August and the family can move in.
Sunday Elder Bayles was asked to teach the Gospel Essentials class when he got the church. I taught Relief Society so we do keep busy. We get frustrated because we just don't have enough people to teach but we will not give up. We will find someone. We love the Caswell Ward and the great people who continuously treat us as family. We love them so much.
Monday was Jonny Clark Bayles' fifth birthday. We are so proud of him. He is a joy to his family and loves his sisters and especially his brother, Riley. He tries very hard to do what is mommy and daddy ask him to do. We love him so very much.
This is a crape myrtle. They bloom all summer. They have pink, red, white and purple. They're beautiful.
I Love Elder Bayles
